Real Madrid Escalates Case Against Barcelona, Seeks Compensation
Real Madrid is escalating its legal proceedings against Barcelona in the "Negreira case," effectively ending the previously cordial relationship between the two clubs.
The Royal Club has officially requested access to Barcelona's audit records and invoices covering the period from 2010 to 2018. Real Madrid has also sent a list of questions to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, seeking precise explanations regarding payments made to José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees.
According to Spanish newspaper "AS," Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez affirmed at the recent General Assembly of members that: "Real Madrid does not intend to stop at the judicial decision and will move forward. The specific strategy includes demanding millions of euros in compensation from Barcelona for the consequences of the payments made to Negreira."
Real Madrid plans to claim millions of euros in damages resulting from this case.
