Ancelotti's Brazil Deal Details: Emotional Video and Technical Hurdles

26 December 2025at09:35

Diego Fernandez, an agent for the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), has revealed details surrounding the negotiations to sign Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti to lead the Brazilian national team. Fernandez indicated that the agreement with Ancelotti came after the Brazilian team's draw with Venezuela, considering the Italian coach to be the optimal solution for the national squad.

In this regard, Fernandez stated: "Vinicius could play very well for Real Madrid, but not for the national team. I thought: 'If we bring Carlo, that's the solution; the players will trust him'." He added that he convinced Ancelotti with an emotional video featuring children from underprivileged neighborhoods saying: "Ancelotti, we are waiting for you. You are the best coach for our national team!" Regarding Ancelotti's reaction, Fernandez recalled: "At that moment, when I saw his eyes, I knew: 'Carlo is coming!'"

The official announcement of the contract signing was made on May 12. For his part, Ednaldo Rodrigues, President of the Brazilian Football Confederation, declared: "He is the best coach in history, and now he leads the best national team on the planet. Together, we will write glorious new chapters for Brazilian football."

The process of finalizing the contract was not without its difficulties, encountering complications due to power outages in Spain and Portugal on April 28. Fernandez commented on this, saying: "On the day I spoke with Carlo about the contract details, there was an internet failure... All day, we couldn't get approval."
