Endrick Joins Lyon on Loan from Real Madrid
Young forward Endrick joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth €60 million. Endrick had previously made a name for himself as the youngest player in the Brazilian league at 16 years old, scoring a decisive goal for his former club Palmeiras in 2023.
Endrick began his Real Madrid career impressively, scoring a goal in his La Liga debut during injury time, and then again in his Champions League debut against Stuttgart. However, despite featuring in 37 matches under coach Carlo Ancelotti, he started only 8 games and scored 7 goals, with 5 of those coming in the Copa del Rey.
Endrick's playing minutes significantly decreased under new coach Xabi Alonso, as he participated in only three matches and failed to score any goals during half a season. His father expressed his support, stating: “I know, my son, how hard you work and how much you invest every minute of your day... your star will continue to shine, even if some try to extinguish it.”
Endrick was sent off in a match against Celta Vigo and is now preparing to join French club Olympique Lyon on loan in search of more playing time. His contract is set to become official on January 1st, and he will miss the January 3rd match against Monaco due to regulations from the DNCG (National Directorate of Management Control).
