Cameroonian Football Faces Bizarre Coaching Crisis
Cameroonian football is currently grappling with a unique administrative situation concerning the national team's head coach position. This situation is highlighted by the conflict between former coach Marc Brys and current coach David Pagou.
Prior to the Africa Cup of Nations, the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) announced Brys' dismissal and the appointment of Pagou as his successor. However, this move was met with opposition from the Ministry of Sports, leading both coaches to announce separate national team squads. According to reports from "Sport News Africa," Marc Brys was never officially dismissed from his position.
As a result of this situation, FECAFOOT continues to pay Marc Brys' salary, and he even received a bonus for Cameroon's performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. In contrast, David Pagou, who effectively led the team during the tournament, has not yet received his salary, underscoring significant administrative chaos.
