Aubameyang Joins Gabon Camp Despite Injury
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrived in Agadir, the Gabon national team's training camp location, on Monday, despite being ruled out of his country's opening match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cameroon due to injury.
The 36-year-old striker sustained pain in the back of his left thigh while playing for Olympique Marseille in mid-December.
Aubameyang will miss the Panthers' opening match on Wednesday evening against Cameroon, but he will be present with his teammates. Aubameyang is a prominent figure for the Gabon national team, having played 84 international matches and scored 39 goals.
Aubameyang is expected to participate in subsequent group stage matches against Mozambique on Sunday and Ivory Coast on December 31, should he recover from his injury.
