La Liga Tests Augmented Reality Project for New Fan Experience
Spain's top football league, La Liga, conducted a test of a new augmented reality project during the recent El Clásico match held at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Approximately one thousand fans participated in the test outside the stadium, using various virtual reality headsets to view recorded match content. La Liga described the results as "very good."
La Liga stated that this project "will redefine how fans experience football in the future." The organization announced that it "will soon unveil the launch of a dedicated application for extended reality (XR) devices, featuring unprecedented content specifically designed for immersive experiences."
Spanish newspaper Marca reported that La Liga aims to launch this application by early 2026, with a long-term goal of live-streaming matches. Under a royal decree, La Liga is the sole entity authorized to develop such projects for broadcasting competitions.
