Barcelona's Spanish midfielder, Aitana Bonmatí, continues her recovery from a serious injury sustained in late November. The injury involved a fractured left fibula and torn ligaments, requiring surgery. This setback is expected to keep the Spanish star off the pitch for approximately five months. Bonmatí expressed her goal in a statement to ESPN, saying, "My idea is to return to play before the end of the season."

Bonmatí aims to rejoin group training in April, with the potential to participate in the final stages of the Spanish League, the Copa de la Reina (final on May 16), the UEFA Women's Champions League (final on May 23), and the 2027 World Cup qualifiers in June.

Bonmatí, a three-time Ballon d'Or winner, also received ESPN's Best Player award for the third consecutive year. Commenting on this recognition, she stated, "For me, it is very special to win the ESPN award for the third consecutive year."
