Cameroonian Defender Nicolas Nkoulou Announces Retirement from Football

Cameroonian defender Nicolas Nkoulou has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35. Nkoulou concluded a nine-year career in France's Ligue 1, where he represented prominent clubs such as AS Monaco, Olympique Marseille, and Olympique Lyon.

Nkoulou's professional career also included spells in Italy, England, Greece, and Turkey, where he played for clubs like Torino, Watford, Aris Thessaloniki, and several Turkish teams. The Cameroonian international had been without a club since his contract with Turkish side Amed SK expired last August.

Nkoulou achieved several notable accomplishments throughout his career, including winning the French League Cup in 2012 with Olympique Marseille. He also lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy with the Cameroon national team in 2017, scoring one of the winning goals in the final against Egypt.

The Cameroonian defender made 253 appearances in France's Ligue 1 during his career, in addition to earning 81 international caps for his country, scoring two goals.
