Neymar Undergoes Successful Left Knee Surgery

Santos player Neymar da Silva Santos has undergone successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to treat a medial meniscus injury. The procedure took place on Monday morning (December 22) at Mater Dei de Nova Lima Hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar.

Santos FC confirmed the success of the operation, noting that the player has already begun his rehabilitation phase alongside physiotherapist Rafael Martini. A club statement read: “Neymar da Silva Santos underwent surgery on Monday morning (December 22) at Mater Dei de Nova Lima Hospital by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar. An arthroscopy was performed to treat medial meniscus injuries. The operation was successful, and the player has already begun his rehabilitation pathway, supported by physiotherapist Rafael Martini.”

This surgery was deemed necessary after Neymar had been playing while suffering from physical issues, despite which he contributed to helping Santos avoid relegation.

The player aims to participate in the 2026 World Cup. Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar will be evaluated for his fitness if he is deemed eligible to play. Neymar's contract with Santos is set to expire in December 2025.
