Riise Discusses Slot's Attacking Options at Liverpool After Isak Injury
Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has commented on manager Arne Slot's attacking options following Liverpool's recent 2-1 victory. Riise noted that both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike scored in that match, but Isak sustained an injury that will sideline him for at least three months, leaving Ekitike as the only available out-and-out striker currently.
Speaking to "Casinostugan," Riise stated: "Arne Slot seems like a manager who gives players opportunities based on performance. He doesn't care much about names; he wants the best possible starting eleven."
Riise added that Ekitike's impressive form puts "pressure on Alexander Isak to regain his level and prove his worth." He also highlighted Slot's decision to drop Mohamed Salah from the starting lineup due to a dip in performance, asserting that "Slot will play Ekitike as long as Ekitike maintains his performance."
Ekitike's goal was his eighth non-penalty goal in the Premier League, and he is expected to start the upcoming match against Wolverhampton.
